ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD) is an
organization established to advance health development that benefits not just the people in
Thailand but also the citizens of other ASEAN member countries using the basic health
principles. The ASEAN Institute for Health Development has three main tasks: education,
research and academic services. AIHD also served as a source of information in various
health-related fields and a leading institution for primary health training for health
personnel and relevant parties in ASEAN Member States. Currently, AIHD’s work has been
expanded to cover community health development at both the national and regional levels.
Ever since, our vision is "To be a world-class academic institute for global health, health
policy and health development". This vision, which received an approval from Mahidol
University Council, supports and helps forward the university's vision of becoming a leading
research-driven academic institution and be one of the top 100 universities in the world.
AIHD has established a strong partnership and close coordination with various organizations in
Thailand and abroad to foster academic collaboration and generate funding to support and sustain its
research projects, which are crucial to health development. One of the projects that we have
undertaken is to develop the Social Health Protection (SHP) program in the Master of Primary Health
Care Management (MPHM) program in academic services. This project is in collaboration with the
International Labor Organization (ILO).
