On 12 October 2021, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phudit Tejativaddhana, M.D.; Director of ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD), Mahidol University and head of the project “Policy Options and Guidelines to Reform and Strengthen the Roles of Village Health Volunteers and Bangkok Health Volunteers towards the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” along with Asst. Prof. Dr. Orapin Laosee; head of the sub-project no.3, Asst. Prof. Dr. Aroonsri MongkolChati, Asst. Prof. Somsak Wongsawass, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thunwadee Suksaroj, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cheerawit Rattanapan, and the research team collected research data from Village Health Volunteers (VHVs) who worked with best practices in Chiang Mai province via Zoom Meeting. This project was funded by Health Systems Research Institute (HSRI).
During the meeting, participants were allocated into 3 groups for the merit of the focus group interview. Participants were village health volunteers, and representatives from related health organizations, such as the Provincial Public Health Office, District Public Health Office, Sub-District Health Promoting Hospital, Community Health Center, and Health Service Support Office at Chiang Mai.
The meeting aimed to examine the lessons learned that reflected problems, solutions, work processes as well as the successful work of Village Health Volunteers and their roles in the context of a variety of important health issues. The information acquired will be useful for the analysis of Policy Options and Guidelines to Reform and Strengthen the Roles of Village Health Volunteers (VHVs) and Bangkok Health Volunteers towards the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
