AIHD organized meeting to discuss guidelines to reform and Strengthen the Roles of Village Health Volunteers and Bangkok Health Volunteer

On 29 March 2022, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phudit Tejativaddhana M.D.; Director of ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University and head of Policy Options and Guidelines to Reform and Strengthen the Roles of Village Health Volunteers and Bangkok Health Volunteers toward the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) research project collaborated by ASEAN Institute of Health Development, Mahidol University, Department of Health Service Support, Ministry Of Public Health, and Health Department Bangkok, which received research funding from Health Systems Research Institute (HSRI) together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cheerawit Rattanapan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thunwadee Suksaroj, Asst. Prof. Dr. Orapin Laosee, Asst. Prof. Dr. Aroonsri Mongkolchati, Asst. Prof. Somsak Wongsawass, and AIHD research assistants organized the forum to consider guidelines for reforming the roles of Village Health Volunteers and Bangkok Health Volunteers via Zoom meeting.

This forum was honored by academics from the Ministry of Public Health, and academic institutions together with Village Health Volunteers, Bangkok Health Volunteers, executives, related staffs and people from 8 provinces; Nakhon Ratchasima, Chanthaburi, Kanchanaburi, Chiang Mai, Roi Et, Pattani, Surat Thani, and Bangkok.

The forum was held under sub-project 5; Future Search for Policy Options and Guidelines to Reform and Strengthen the Roles of Village Health Volunteers and Bangkok Health Volunteers toward the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS). The forum aims to exchange knowledge for reforming the roles of Village Health Volunteers and Bangkok Health Volunteers, and to prioritize working approach. It will help to identify appropriate strategies for reforming the roles of Village Health Volunteers and Bangkok Health Volunteers in primary care and public health work, engagement, and self-care promotion in the community that conformed to the demographic, social, economic, and political structure of the country for the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
