AIHD visited ILO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland to discuss collaboration and future directions

On 28 May 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chuthamanee Suthisisang; Acting for Director of ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD), Mahidol University together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thunwadee Suksaroj; Acting for Deputy Director for Administration met Ms. Shahra Razavi; Director of the Social Protection Department, International Labour Organization (ILO) headquarters, and Ms. Lou Tessier; Health Protection Specialist at ILO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. In this regard, AIHD discussed and presented the working performance and achievement of its collaboration with the ILO. Mahidol University through the ASEAN Institute for Health Development signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the International Labour Organization in 2019. This MOU aims to enhance the capacity of Social Health Protection personnel in developing countries in Southeast Asia by providing them with the necessary skills to create appropriate social health protection plans and support health policy system reforms. Moreover, AIHD also collaborated with ILO to develop the Master of Primary Health Care Management – Special track on Social Health Protection, offering scholarships provided by the ILO, and established the CONNECT for Social Health Protection or CONNECT center to develop research work on Social Health Protection. Recently, it comprised 16 network members from 6 countries across Asia, Europe, and Australia, with AIHD assigned to serve as the CONNECT Secretariat Office. Furthermore, AIHD also engaged in discussions with ILO to outline future directions and prepare for the European Accreditation for Master of Primary Health Care Management – Special track on Social Health Protection.
