ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University, collaborates with the International Labour Organization (ILO) to Host the Event “Achieving Social Justice through Inclusive Social Health Protection”

On February 6, 2025, the ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD), Mahidol University, in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO), hosted the event "Achieving Social Justice through Inclusive Social Health Protection" in celebration of the World Day of Social Justice, which is observed annually on February 20. The event was honored by the presence of distinguished guests, including Prof. Dr. Piyamitr Sritara, MD, President of Mahidol University; Dr. Sakdinath Sontisakyothin, Assistant Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour; and Miss Kaori Nakamura-Osaka, Director of the ILO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific. In the opening session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thunwadee Suksaroj, Director of AIHD, welcomed attendees and introduced the Master of Primary Health Care Management (International Program). This program aims to strengthen public health systems and reinforce social health protection mechanisms to ensure greater inclusivity for all. A key highlight of the event was the special lecture, "Inclusion as a Cornerstone for Universal Social Health Protection," delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wanrudee Isaranuwatchai, Senior Researcher at the Health Intervention and Technology Assessment Program (HITAP). Additionally, the event featured an international panel discussion on "Insights on Initiatives for Inclusive Social Health Protection," with experts from leading organizations, including: Prof. Phạm Tiến Nam, Hanoi University of Public Health (Vietnam), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sauwakon Ratanawijitrasin, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mahidol University (Thailand), Miss Rashim Bedi, Self Employed Women's Association – SEWA (India), Miss Emiko Nagasawa, Japan Business Federation – Keidanren (Japan), and Mr. Sreng Sophornreaksmey, Cambodia National Social Protection Council – NSPC (Cambodia). The event took place at Boonsiri Meeting Room, ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus, and was also available online. It provides an opportunity for faculty members, academics, staff, and students to exchange knowledge on universal health coverage and promote equity in access to the healthcare system, especially for vulnerable groups.
