AIHD presents research project supporting village health volunteers’ roles reforms to Department of Health Service Support, MoPH

The ASEAN Institute for Health Development #AIHD, Mahidol University, headed by its Director, Asst. Prof. Dr. Phudit Tejativaddhana, M.D., who is also the Head of “The alternative synthesis and policy proposal to support the reforms of Village Health Volunteer and Public Health Volunteers’ roles towards the achievement of the sustainable development goals,” presented the research project plan to the Department of Health Service Support, Ministry of Public Health on 2 October 2020.
Present during the meeting were Mr. Panuwat Panket, M.D., Deputy Director-General of the Department of Health Service Support MoPH, along with Mr. Chatchay Suwannit, Academic Expert in Public Health, and their colleagues at the Department of Health Service Support.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Vijj Kasemsup, M.D., AIHD Deputy Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sakda Arj-ong Vallibhakara, M.D., Deputy Director for Research Innovation and Academic Services, AIHD lecturers including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thunwadee Suksaroj, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cheerawit Rattanapan, Asst. Prof. Dr. Orapin Laosee; and the AIHD research team have joined Asst. Prof. Dr. Phudit Tejativaddhana at the meeting.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Phudit Tejativaddhana presented the project’s value and its importance. Included in the presentation was the development of policy recommendations for government agencies’ senior executives, particularly those who engage in public health. These policy recommendations aim to support reforms on Village Health Volunteers and Public Health Volunteers’ roles in providing primary health services and information on research processes. The reforms focus on creating community participation in the field to provide guidance and further develop the Village Health Volunteers and Public Health Volunteers’ roles in the future.
Both teams have discussed the role and participation of the Department of Health Service Support, MoPH during the implementation of the research project. They have also considered and identified the possible research areas and the target groups.
