ASEAN Institute for Health Development Collaborates with Juntendo University, Japan, to Strengthen Research Cooperation on Migrants' Health and Well-being

On March 18, 2025, ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD) collaborates with Juntendo University, Japan and partner organizations to organize a seminar to monitor research cooperation progress on Migrants' Health and Well-being. On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cheerawit Rattanapan, Deputy Director for Research and Academic Affairs and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Piyapong Janmaimool, Deputy Director for Strategy and International Relations of the ASEAN Institute for Health Development, delivered a welcoming speech to the participants. The event was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Miyoko Okamoto, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yoshihisa Shirayama, faculty members from the Department of Global Health Services, Graduate School of International Liberal Arts, and the Department of Global Health Research, Graduate School of Medicine, Juntendo University (Japan), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sherry Yueh-Hsia Chiu from the Department of Health Care Management, College of Management, Chang Gung University (Taiwan), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thammarat Marohabutr from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mahidol University (Thailand), Prof. Sonia R. Chao, Prof. Yui Matsuda and Prof. Steven Fett, Faculty members and Researchers from the University of Miami (USA), including researchers from AIHD and Juntendo University. This event served as a platform for research groups to present their research progress and exchange ideas on the topic of migrant populations, organized into five working groups covering key issues such as 1) Impact of air pollution 2) Oral health problems 3) Mental Health 4) Migrants’ access to healthcare services 5) Food security among migrants. Additionally, a hands-on training session on Rayyan was conducted by Mr. Jeevan Bhatta, a researcher from the ASEAN Institute for Health Development. The session introduced participants to Rayyan, a tool designed to facilitate the process of conducting systematic literature reviews for researchers. The event was attended by faculty members, researchers, and students from both institutions, as well as representatives of partner organizations. It was held at Meeting Room 2106, AIHD, with virtual participation also available.
