PREFACE:
Health promotion has become a main public health priority since the development and dissemination of the Ottawa Charter in 1986. Much development has been observed both at the global and country levels throughout the world. A series of international conferences on health promotion were organized to express the concerns of global communities with regard to the need to improve health of the world population in order to reduce the morbidity and mortality from preventable illnesses. Nevertheless, the success of health promotion has not been clearly observed, particularly among developing countries. were has been a significant discrepancy with regard to the incidence of chronic non-communicable diseases and life expectancy at birth among countries around the world. In a high level meeting of the General Assembly of the United Nations in September 2012, the Assembly had produced a political declaration on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCD). It was a demonstration of global commitment to address the high incidence and mortality of various NCDs of which majority are preventable. Such commitment should be translated into actions by all organizations and institutions in every country.
