The ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD), Mahidol University, in collaboration with the State of Meghalaya, Republic of India, organized the “Educational Tour Program on Public Health Policy: Learning Experiences from Thailand” at the ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University. An opening ceremony and welcoming session were held at the Prince Mahidol Hall Conference Center, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus, to welcome 33 participants from the State of Meghalaya, India. The ceremony was presided over by Ms. Paulomi Tripathi, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India, who delivered the opening remarks. The event was also attended by Associate Professor Dr. Napareun Sacharak Theerathiti, Vice President for International Relations and University Council Affairs, Mahidol University, Associate Professor Dr. Thanwadee Suksaroj, Director of the ASEAN Institute for Health Development, along with executives, faculty members, and participants. In her remarks, Ms. Tripathi warmly welcomed the delegation from Meghalaya, expressing her delight in meeting the participants and her appreciation to Mahidol University for organizing this meaningful program — a significant platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration in public health policy between Thailand and India. Associate Professor Dr. Napareun Sacharak Theerathiti emphasized the importance of this program as an excellent opportunity to share knowledge, strengthen the capacity of health professionals, and promote cooperation between Mahidol University and the State of Meghalaya. She also highlighted the program’s role in fostering long-term relationships and advancing international health system development. Associate Professor Dr. Thanwadee Suksaroj, Director of AIHD, further noted that throughout the course, participants would learn about Thailand’s health system and public health policies, including topics such as health service delivery, universal health coverage, and flexible health workforce development. Participants would also visit key health institutions and engage in exchanges with leading public health experts to explore the processes and best practices that have contributed to Thailand’s success in health promotion, disease prevention, and rehabilitation. This program marks a significant milestone in strengthening health cooperation between Thailand and India, aiming to generate innovative ideas, build sustainable partnerships, and enhance the effectiveness of health systems in both countries for the future.
