On August 2, 2022, the ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD), Mahidol University, in collaboration with the National Health Commission Office (NHCO) and the Nakhon Pathom Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO), organized the Certificate Training Program on Capacity Development for Area-Based Health Managers – Batch 1. The event was opened by Associate Professor Dr. Pudit Techatavat, who delivered welcoming remarks to the participants from Nakhon Pathom Province, and was honored by the presence of Mr. Jirawat Sasomsap, President of the Nakhon Pathom Provincial Administrative Organization, who presided over the opening ceremony. Mr. Jirawat also joined Dr. Wirot Rattanamornsakul, Nakhon Pathom Provincial Public Health Doctor, in a discussion on the topic “From Policy to Practice: Decentralization of Public Health Functions to Local Authorities.” Associate Professor Dr. Pudit Techatavat also gave a special lecture on “Concepts and Principles of the Health System.” The training, held from August 2–4, 2022, featured lectures by distinguished speakers, including: Dr. Preeda Tairarak, Deputy Secretary-General, National Health Commission Office, Mr. Jaruek Chairak, Office for Area-Based Public Policy Mobilization, Mr. Thawatchai Naksrisang, Head of the Public Health Strategy Development Group, Nakhon Pathom Provincial Public Health Office, Ms. Patchajirach Thatchamekrat, Head of the Communicable Disease Prevention Group, Bureau of Local Public Health, Department of Local Administration, Asst. Prof. Dr. Supaporn Songpracha, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs, AIHD, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mayuree Yothawut, Assistant Director for Academic Affairs, AIHD, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thanwadee Suksaroj, AIHD Faculty, Asst. Prof. Somsak Wongsawas, AIHD Faculty, A total of 120 participants joined the training, which took place at the Boonsiri Conference Room, Training Building, ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University. The program aimed to enhance the capacity of local health managers, strengthen understanding of area-based health systems, and promote effective collaboration between national and local public health agencies in advancing Thailand’s health system at the community level.
