Opening training on “Assessment of health-promoting universities using the Healthy University Rating System (HURS)”

On 29th March 2022, Prof. Banchong Mahaisavariya, M.D., President of Mahidol University (MU), presided over the opening of the training session “Assessment of health-promoting universities using the Healthy University Rating System (HURS)”. The honorable participants who were invited as speakers to share knowledge in the session were Dr. Nattaphan Supaka, Director of the Relations and International Relations, Thai Health Promotion Foundation; Dr. Wiwat Rojanapithayakorn, Advisor to Executive Director and MU Working Committee, ASEAN University Network - Health Promotion Network (AUN-HPN); Prof. Dr. Chartchalerm Isarankura-Na-Ayudhya, Dean of Faculty of Medical Technology and Chair of the Working Committee; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phudit Tejativaddhana, M.D, Director of the ASEAN Institute for Health Development and Executive Director of AUN-HPN. The training session took place from 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. via Zoom virtual meeting.

The training aimed to help improve the effective implementation of the HURS and to satisfy the quality standards set by the AUN–HPN Healthy University Framework, which received financial support from Mahidol University and the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (Thai Health). This training activity also encouraged universities and partners in the network to collaborate in health promotion based on the AUN–HPN Healthy University Framework and enhanced the awareness about healthy universities, the importance of the assessment tool -HURS among academic institutions and universities in Thailand, as well as other countries in ASEAN region.

This training received much interest and positive responses from 60 administrators, lecturers, and personnel in 11 universities belonging to the Thai University Network- Health Promotion Network (TUN-HPN), namely Khon Kaen University, Chulalongkorn University, Chiang Mai University, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Thammasat University, Burapha University, Naresuan University, Mahasarakham University, Mahidol University, Walailak University, and Prince of Songkla University.

In this regard, the HURS assessment tool version 2022 will be prepared to be ready to serve as an assessment tool for interested universities in Thailand and ASEAN that want to assess the implementation of their health promotion activities.
