AIHD Research and Development’s MAPC SALT project to build village health volunteer system

The Research Development team of the ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD), Mahidol University, conducted a field trip to Bangtan District on 24 June 2020. The visit aimed to make an assessment to build a Village Health Volunteer system under its MAPC SALT Project.
Dr. Vijj Kasemsup, M.D., Deputy Director of ASEAN Institute for Health Development, also the Acting Head of the Research and Health Development Implementation Unit, Board of Jaikrating Foundation, and
T.C. Pharmaceutical Industries Company Limited led AIHD’s Research Development team during the said field visit.
Dr. Vijj Kasemsup met Mr. Chokchai Sakornpanitch, M.D., Doctor of Prachinburi Provincial Public Health Office, and then proceeded to Bangtan District to find out and assess the Village Health Volunteers’ roles, particularly in controlling and containing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
They made consultations with the Director of District Health Office, Director of Bangtan District Health Promoting Hospital (Bansang city, Prachinburi), and Bangtan Village Health Volunteers to establish cooperation and build a network for the promotion and the development of the capacities of the Village Health Volunteers in the district.
Moreover, the team and its partners have assessed and studied different measures of COVID-19 preventions. During the consultation, the Factory Volunteers presented the plan they have laid out based on the recommendations provided in the previous discussions by the Director of T.C. Pharmaceutical Industries Company Limited and Asst. Prof. Dr. Phudit Tejativaddhana, M.D., Director of ASEAN Institute for Health Development.
The AIHD Research and Development team will utilize the Constellation SALT process of the T.C. Pharmaceutical Industries Company Limited in developing the Bangtan District Village Health Volunteers system and the Factory Volunteers from July to November 2020.
