On October 2, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thunwadee Suksaroj; Director of ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD), Mahidol University together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Piyapong Janmaimool; Acting for Deputy Director for Strategy and International Relations attended the official opening ceremony of the Osaka University Institute for Sports & Global Health and signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Prof. Ken Nakata, MD, PhD, Director of the Osaka University Institute for Sports & Global Health (OuiSH), Osaka University, and Prof. Yamamoto Hitoshi, Ph.D.; Vice Director at the Osaka University Nakanoshima Center, Osaka, Japan.
The MOU aimed to foster collaboration between the institutions in integrating education and research through joint symposiums, collaborative research projects, researcher exchanges, and the sharing of relevant knowledge and expertise. The agreement also focuses on advancing Global Health, emphasizing collaboration in global health development and the promotion of sustainable well-being.
The event also included the Kick-Off Symposium, featuring invited speakers from various leading institutions to exchange views and propose ways to drive collaborative work forward. On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thunwadee Suksaroj discussed with Prof. Ken Nakata, MD, PhD, discussed opportunities to expand collaboration between the two institutions in Global Health and Health Promotion, as well as strengthening the ties between AUN-HPN and Japan.
The ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD) has been assigned by Mahidol University to serve as the Secretariat of the ASEAN University Network - Health Promotion Network (AUN-HPN). Osaka University is an Associate Member of the AUN-HPN and plays a key role in driving sustainable and high-quality health promotion within universities, following the AUN Healthy University Framework (HUF).
Currently, the ASEAN University Network - Health Promotion Network (AUN-HPN) consists of 55 leading universities across the ASEAN region, divided into two categories: 30 Core Members and 25 Associate Members.
