ASEAN Institute for Health Development and Juntendo University Co-host Workshop on Collaborative Research Development in Relation to International Migrant Issues

On 15 August 2025, the ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University, in collaboration with Juntendo University, Japan, organized the “Workshop on Collaborative Research Development in Relation to International Migrant Issues.”
The workshop began with welcome remarks by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thunwadee Suksaroj, Director of ASEAN Institute for Health Development, followed by the opening address from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Miyoko Okamoto from the Department of Global Health Services, Graduate School of International Liberal Arts, Juntendo University. The event was honored by a special lecture delivered by Prof. Kiichi Fujiwara from Juntendo University on the topic “International Political Situation Surrounding Thailand and Migrant Situation: Cross-border humanitarian disasters in a nation-first world.” A total of 23 participants attended the workshop in both onsite and online formats.
This activity is part of the ongoing collaborative workshops between Mahidol University and Juntendo University, aimed at providing opportunities for faculty members, researchers, and students from both universities, as well as partner institutions such as Chang Gung University (Taiwan) and the University of Miami (USA) to jointly develop research, particularly focusing on the health and well-being of international migrants.
This session served as a platform to present Scoping Review findings in five key areas, 1) Health impacts of air pollution
2) Oral health 3) Mental health 4) Food security 5) Healthcare services access.
In addition, the participants discussed strategies for advancing migrant-related research that could contribute to policy advocacy and tangible improvements in migrant health.
The workshop was conducted in a Hybrid format at the Krasae Chanawongse Meeting Room, AIHD, and via Zoom Meeting.
