On August 25, 2025, Dr. Chanida Lertpitakpong, Lecturer at the ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD), Mahidol University, presented her research online to the Committee on Health Economics for Defining Types and Scopes of Health Services in the National Health Security System at the National Health Security Office (NHSO).
Her research, titled: “Economic Evaluation and Operational Feasibility of Treatment for Urinary Incontinence due to a Urethral Sphincter Deficiency in Men by Using Male Sling or Artificial Urinary Sphincter in Thailand,”
presents evidence from economic evaluation, budget impact analysis, and operational feasibility.
The study aims to support the potential inclusion of Male Sling and Artificial Urinary Sphincter (AUS), surgical devices for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) in men caused by prostate cancer surgery, benign prostatic hyperplasia surgery, and age-related urethral sphincter deficiency, into Thailand’s Universal Health Coverage (30-Baht Scheme).
This represents an important step toward enhancing equitable access to effective treatment for male urinary incontinence in Thailand.
