ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD) Organizes Brainstorming Session for Cross-Border Well-being Strategic Plan

On September 26, 2025, AIHD, Mahidol University, organized a brainstorming session to develop a strategic plan for promoting cross-border well-being between Thailand and its neighboring countries. The session was led by Associate Professor Dr. Thunwadee Suksaroj, Director of the ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University, and Associate Professor Dr. Cheerawit Rattanapan, Deputy Director for Research and Academic Affairs. Key stakeholders participated in the virtual meeting, including representatives from the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth), Mr. Surasak Thanaisawanyangkoon ;advisory of Migrant Health Program of the Health Systems Research Institute (HSRI), Dr. Pitchayapass Vannasirikul ; Bureau of Strategy and Planning, Ministry of Public Health , Department of Health Service Support, Ministry of Public Health; Su-ngai Kolok Hospital, Narathiwat Province; Tak Provincial Public Health Office; Ratchaburi Provincial Public Health Office; and Ranong Provincial Public Health Office.
The objectives of the meeting were to:
1. Gather strategic perspectives on health promotion in the border areas between Thailand and its neighboring countries;
2. Review and provide feedback on the draft vision and mission for cross-border health promotion between Thailand and neighboring countries proposed by ThaiHealth; and
3. Identify strategic issues and key mechanisms for collaborative action.
Thailand shares borders with Myanmar, Lao PDR, Cambodia, and Malaysia. This meeting emphasized strengthening collaboration among various sectors at both national and regional levels to enhance the quality of life and health of people living in border areas.
The meeting was held at the Krasae Chanawongse Room, 2nd Floor, Administration Building, ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University, and via online platform (Zoom Meeting).
