Module 4: Health Information System Intermediate-Level Mini Master of Management in Health for Ethnic Health Care Managers (14 August – 30 October 2025)
29-30 September 2025
From 29 to 30 September 2025, the ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD) at Mahidol University successfully executed Module 4: Health Information System of the Intermediate-Level Mini Master of Management in Health for Ethnic Health Care Managers. The training occurred in a hybrid style, featuring over 30 onsite attendees at The Teak Hotel, Mae Sot, combined with more than 30 online participants via Zoom.
Day One commenced with a presentation on Designing a Health Information System (HIS): A Practical Approach, conducted by Dr. Alex and Thinzar, followed by interactive group work sessions facilitated by Dr. Alex, Thinzar, Dr. Pyae, and Dr. Khin. In the afternoon, Alina Pant provided examples of participatory health information systems, including Thai village health volunteers and smartphone reporting technologies, which stimulated engaging debates among attendees.
Day Two opened with a presentation on Public Health Information Systems (PHIS) by Dr. Khin, succeeded by small group discussions and a Q&A session. The morning session featured an Overview of Surveillance presented by Dr. Pyae, while the afternoon addressed the differentiation between HIS and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) by Dr. Htet, alongside a discussion on District Health Management Leadership (DHML) in Thailand by Alina Pant, emphasizing practical applications and leadership dimensions in health information systems.
The sessions conducted over these two days established a robust framework for the subsequent site visits and workshop activities, which persisted until 3 October 2025.
This training program is collaboratively organized by the ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD) and Mahidol University, in partnership with CPI. The hybrid-format program seeks to enhance leadership and public health management competencies, while promoting information sharing regarding Thailand’s public health care system.
