Module 5: Leadership and Governance & Site Visits in Tak Province Intermediate-Level Mini Master of Management in Health for Ethnic Health Care Managers (14 August – 30 October 2025)

From 1–3 October 2025, the ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University, conducted Module 5: Leadership and Governance as part of the Intermediate-Level Mini Master of Management in Health for Ethnic Health Care Managers.
The module began with a welcome and opening remarks from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thunwadee Suksaroj, Director of the ASEAN Institute for Health Development. The Deputy Director for Administration and Academic Services, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Orapin Laosee was also present throughout the module, providing support and engaging with participants.
An inspiring session followed with Dr. Cynthia Maung, Director of Mae Tao Clinic, who shared her leadership journey and insights into advancing community health care for marginalized populations. The participant presented their learnings and discussed on the way forward.
On 2 October, participants visited Umphang Hospital, where they explored key processes related to HRH accreditation, practical management and service delivery, supply chain operations, and data management- guided by the hospital’s Director and leadership team.
On 3 October, the group continued to Tha Song Yang Hospital, observing real-world applications of governance and leadership in district health services, including supply chain and cold chain systems guided by the hospital’s Director and leadership team.
Over 20 participants joined the site visits in person, while others participated online via Zoom. Staff from AIHD, CPI, and partner organizations were also present at the sites.
This module emphasized the vital role of leadership and governance in strengthening health systems and provided participants with firsthand learning experiences from health leaders and institutions in Thailand.
The program is jointly organized by AIHD and Mahidol University, in partnership with CPI, and is designed to build leadership capacity and foster collaborative learning among ethnic health care managers.
