The Secretariat of the ASEAN University Network – Health Promotion Network (AUN-HPN), Mahidol University, held a meeting with the Thai University Network for Health Promotion (TUN-HPN) to discuss the implementation of a research project aimed at advancing health promotion in higher education institutions across Thailand.

On 17 November 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thunwadee Suksaroj, Director of ASEAN Institute for Health Development and Executive Director of AUN-HPN, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Piyapong Janmaimool, Deputy Director for Strategy and International Relations at the ASEAN Institute for Health Development and Deputy Executive Director of AUN-HPN, joined a meeting with TUN-HPN to discuss research implementation strategies to drive health promotion in Thai universities. The initiative is supported by the Division of Organizational Health Promotion, Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth). The discussions focused on three key health themes: promoting physical activity, enhancing mental health, and reducing the use of tobacco and electronic cigarettes in higher education institutions. The meeting was honored by the participation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jeema Sorlump, Assistant to the President for Student Affairs and Sustainability, Kasetsart University, and Lead Researcher for the theme “Physical Activity”; Ms. Suttinee Chatyalak, Director of the Student Development Division, Chiang Mai University, and Lead Researcher for the theme “Mental Health”; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Darunee Pookhao, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mahidol University, and Lead Researcher for the theme “Electronic Cigarette and Tobacco Use.” The participants discussed research implementation approaches to develop a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that can be adapted to the context of each university, as well as guidelines for sustainable health promotion activities within higher education institutions in Thailand. The meeting was held at Krasae Chanawongse, Room, ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University.
