ASEAN Institute for Health Development Hosts Special Lecture on “Healthcare Waste Management in Asia: Current Practices and the Shift Towards Circular Economy”

On 19 November 2025, the ASEAN Institute for Health Development, through the Doctor of Philosophy Program in Health and Sustainable Development (International Program) and Research Cluster of Circular Economy for Healthcare Waste Management, organized a special lecture titled “Healthcare Waste Management in Asia: Current Practices and the Shift Towards Circular Economy.” The session was honored to have Prof. Dr. Chettiyapan Visvanathan from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, as the guest speaker. The lecture was attended by graduate students and faculty members of AIHD, as well as external academic participants, both onsite at Room 2204 Smart Classroom, Training and Learning Building, and online platform. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cheerawit Rattanapan, Deputy Director for Research and Academic Affairs and Principal Investigator of Circular Economy for Healthcare Waste Management, delivered the opening remarks.
Prof. Dr. Chettiyapan Visvanathan is an expert in environmental management and technology, solid waste, plastic waste and infectious waste management, and sustainable consumption and production. His lecture provided insights into waste management for health care and pathways toward a circular economy, offering practical applications for research and professional practice. This aligns with the Institute’s mission to continuously enhance the knowledge and capacity of its students and staff.
