On 6 January 2026, The ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD), Mahidol University, held a collaborative meeting with researchers from the National University of Singapore (NUS) via Zoom to explore research and academic collaboration. The discussion focused on potential collaboration in joint research, special seminar arrangements, academic exchange, and future proposal development in the areas of risk perception and risk communication in disaster health management.
In this meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Piyapong Janmaimool, Deputy Director for Strategy and International Relations, served as the chair of the meeting, together with Dr. Kwang Mo Yang. Researchers from AIHD engaged in discussions with the NUS research team, which was represented by Dr. Olivia Jensen, Deputy Director and Lead Scientist (Environment and Climate) at the Lloyd’s Register Foundation Institute for the Public Understanding of Risk (IPUR), National University of Singapore, and Dr. Shou Yiyun, Assistant Professor (Research), Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, National University of Singapore.
During the meeting, researchers from both institutions exchanged perspectives and knowledge on disaster situations affecting health, including measures for flood prevention and mitigation, environmental risk reduction, community adaptive capacity enhancement, and key policies related to disaster management in Singapore and Thailand. This meeting served as a valuable platform for sharing experiences and identifying potential areas for joint research on disaster management at both national and regional levels.
