On 28 January 2026, the ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD), Mahidol University, hosted a special lecture entitled “Primary Care at the Frontlines: Lessons from Conflict-Affected Myanmar.” The lecture was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Adam Richards, MD, PhD, Senior Affiliate and Core Faculty at the Center for Humanitarian Health, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, USA, and Adjunct Professor at the ASEAN Institute for Health Development. The event was officially opened by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Piyapong Janmaimool, Deputy Director for Strategy and International Relations, AIHD. The lecture addressed key issues related to healthcare service delivery in conflict-affected and fragile settings, strategies for community engagement, and practical lessons learned from field operations in Myanmar. Special focus was given to communicable diseases, including Tuberculosis (TB), HIV, and Malaria. The session also provided an interactive platform for students to engage in discussions, ask questions, and exchange perspectives with the speaker. This enriched their understanding of Humanitarian Health and strengthened analytical thinking skills essential for future work in diverse health contexts. The lecture was held at Room 2204, Learning and Training Building, ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University.
