Director of AIHD, and Executive Director of AUN-HPN attended the webinar: Leaders Talk Action: WHA Reflection. Main discussion points: How will the world continue to move through the COVID-19 pandemic? How will we rebuild our health systems to be ready for the next pandemic?

7 June 2021

The webinar was held on June 7, 2021, 8 p.m. Thailand time. Sponsored by Johnson & Johnson, the event invited many of the world's leading global health experts to share their perspectives on the World Health Assembly and ways to deal with the COVID-19 epidemic. The meeting has called for public health leaders of all countries to work together to make this crisis stop by reforming the health system to ensure inclusive and equitable access to health services and vaccination.
In addition, in response to the COVID-19 epidemic, it is important to prepare for other surging health issues that affect health injustices including dealing with the spread of other diseases that may arise in the future. This requires strong cooperation from all sectors including both public and private sectors. Moreover, global sponsoring agencies should prioritize the actual outcomes rather than political promises.

- Githinji Gitahi, CEO, Amref Health Africa
