AIHD held a meeting with Kanchanaburi VHVs

On 7 September 2021, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phudit Tejativaddhana, M.D.; Director of ASEAN Institute for Health Development #AIHD, Mahidol University and head of the project “Policy Options and Guidelines to Reform and Strengthen the Roles of Village Health Volunteers and Bangkok Health Volunteers towards the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”, along with Asst. Prof. Dr. Orapin Laosee; head of the sub-project no.3, Asst. Prof. Dr. Aroonsri MongkolChati, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thunwadee Suksaroj, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cheerawit Rattanapan, Asst. Prof. Somsak Wongsawass and the research team from AIHD collected research data from village health volunteers (VHVs) who have best practices in Kanchanaburi province via Zoom Meeting. This project was funded by Health Systems Research Institute (HSRI). During the meeting, participants were allocated into 3 groups for the merit of the focus group interview. Participants consist of village health volunteers, and representatives from related health organizations such as the Provincial Public Health Office, District Public Health Office, Sub-District Health Promoting Hospital, Community Health Center, and Health Service Support Office at Kanchanaburi.
The meeting aimed to examine the lessons learned that reflected problems, solutions, work processes as well as the success of the work of Village Health Volunteers in the context of diverse health issues, breast milk, family relationship, prevention and solution for drug problems in the community, prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, prevention and solution to AIDS, mental health, primary health management, health management in different areas. It will lead to the synthesis of alternatives and policy proposals to support the roles of village health volunteers and Bangkok health volunteers in order to achieve Sustainable Development Goals.
