AIHD held a meeting with VHVs from Nakhon Ratchasima

On 27 September 2021, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phudit Tejativaddhana, M.D.; Director of ASEAN Institute for Health Development #AIHD, Mahidol University and head of the project “Policy Options and Guidelines to Reform and Strengthen the Roles of Village Health Volunteers and Bangkok Health Volunteers towards the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” along with Asst. Prof. Dr. Orapin Laosee; head of sub-project no.3, Asst. Prof. Dr. Aroonsri MongkolChati, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thunwadee Suksaroj, and AIHD research team collected research data from Village Health Volunteers who worked with best practices in Nakhon Ratchasima province via Zoom Meeting.
This research project was supported by Health Systems Research Institute (HSRI).
They divided the participants into 3 groups for collecting data. The subjects were village health volunteers and related people who work in health services at Phimai District, Nakhon Ratchasima, such as Sub-District Health Promoting Hospital, The Elderly Club, and Village Headman/ Village Headman’s Assistant.
The meeting aimed to examine the lessons learned that reflected problems, solutions, work processes as well as the success of the work of Village Health Volunteers and their roles in the context of a variety of important health issues, such as chronic disease management, consumer protection, mental health problems, AIDS, drug addiction, Thai traditional medicine, and health management according to the differences in the socio-cultural context and the nature of the working area. The information acquired will be useful for the analysis of the operating system and to meet the expectations of the stakeholders in reforming the roles of village health volunteers and Bangkok health volunteers for the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.
