On 11 October 2021, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phudit Tejativaddhana, M.D.; Director of ASEAN Institute for Health Development #AIHD, Mahidol University and head of the project “Policy Options and Guidelines to Reform and Strengthen the Roles of Village Health Volunteers and Bangkok Health Volunteers towards the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”, along with Asst. Prof. Dr. Aroonsri MongkolChati, Asst. Prof. Somsak Wongsawass, and AIHD research team collected data from Village Health Volunteers (VHVs) from Chiang Mai via Zoom Meeting. This project was funded by Health Systems Research Institute (HSRI).
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thunwadee Suksaroj is the head of the sub-project no.2. It applied qualitative method to collect research data via focus group interview.
The meeting aimed to study the issues in the implementation of the roles of the Village Health Volunteers and Bangkok Health Volunteers in the context of social and cultural diversities, characteristics of work areas, health problems and expectations.
The participants shared data and suggestions on the roles and capacity building of VHVs. The information acquired will be useful for the analysis of Policy Options and Guidelines to Reform and Strengthen the Roles of Village Health Volunteers (VHVs) and Bangkok Health Volunteers towards the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
