AIHD joined Webinar ‘Decolonising Global Health: What Does It Mean For Asia?’

On 24 January 2022, ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD), Mahidol University was honored to be invited by ASIAN Global Health Alliance (AGHA) to be the co-host of the Academic Seminar titled “Decolonising Global Health: What Does It Mean For Asia?” that was organized by SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute.

In this regard, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phudit Tejativaddhana, M.D.; Director of AIHD was honored with an invitation to discuss about Decolonizing Global Health: What does it mean for Asia? together with panelists from Asia that are Renzo R. Guinto, MD DrPH (Inaugural Director, Planetary and Global Health Program), St. Luke’s Medical Center College of Medicine, Sabina F. Rashid, Ph.D. (Dean), James P. Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University, Vivian Lin, DrPH (Executive Associate Dean), Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, University of Hong Kong, Zainab Samad, MBBS, MHS (Professor and Chair, Department of Medicine) Aga Khan University.

During the seminar, they exchanged knowledge and ideas about the collaboration of academic institutes and organizations that are related to Global Health in Asia to examine the evolving discourse around decolonization of global health, the role of educational institutions, and ways in which Asia can help 'decolonise' global health within and beyond the region.

Moreover, they should collaborate on education, research, exchanging students and instructors that focus on local learning through case studies in Asia countries and create the career path for students who graduate under Global Heath to enhance them to be the leaders of Global Health in sustainability.
