On 7 February 2022, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phudit Tejativaddhana, M.D.; Director of ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University welcomed the participants of Lifestyle Medicine Training batch 4 via Zoom meeting. Dr. Pornthep Siriwanarangsan, M.D.; President of Preventive Medicine Association of Thailand was honored to preside over the training. Asst. Prof. Somsak Wongsawass; Acting Deputy Director for Academic Affairs gave a speech at the opening ceremony of the training program.
In this regard, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phudit Tejativaddhana, M.D. also lectured on “Principle of Lifestyle Medicine: The Development of Lifestyle Medicine”. He emphasized the importance of lifestyle medicine by saying that despite LM being new knowledge that was initiated in the United States in the late 2000s, it has gained international attention as an effective approach for NCDs management. This is because LM is applied to promote good health behaviors in service recipients to prevent and reduce the severity of chronic non-communicable diseases that are a major health threat in the 21st century.
Moreover, Dr. Pornthep Siriwanarangsan, M.D. also mentioned that due to the importance of LM, the Preventive Medicine Association of Thailand and AIHD collaborated to develop the training program supported by the Thai Health Promotion Foundation.
