On 10 February 2022, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phudit Tejativaddhana, M.D.; Director of ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University and head of the project ‘Policy Options and Guidelines to Reform and Strengthen the Roles of Village Health Volunteers (VHVs) and Bangkok Health Volunteers towards the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)’ that was supported by Health Systems Research Institute (HSRI), along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cheerawit Rattanapan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thunwadee Suksaroj, Asst. Prof. Dr. Orapin Laosee, Asst. Prof. Dr. Aroonsri Mongkolcharti, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tatchalerm Sudhipongpracha; Thammasat University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Achakorn Wongpreedee; National Institute of Development Administration and AIHD research team attended the meeting to exchange knowledge and opinion about ‘Participatory practical research for the development of the Village Health Volunteers’ role as a social innovator’ via Zoom meeting.
This meeting was also honored by the presence of Dr. Panuwat Panket, M.D., Deputy Director of the Department of Health Service Support and experts from the Department of Health Service Support, Ministry of Public Health and researchers from the Department of Health, and the public health networks from Roi Et, Pattani, and Chiang Mai.
The aims of this meeting were to present research works and exchange knowledge about the principles of village health volunteers. Moreover, a forum was also initiated for exchanging knowledge and providing suggestions by experts from the Department of Health Service Support, Ministry of Public Health, Department of Health, Bangkok, and a network of research areas. The information obtained is very important and will be useful for the synthesis of alternatives and policy proposals to support the reform of the Village Health Volunteers and Bangkok Health Volunteers in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
