AIHD held research meeting to discuss the roles of Village Health Volunteers and Bangkok Health Volunteers

On 24 February 2022, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phudit Tejativaddhana, M.D.; Director of ASEAN Institute for Health Development #AIHD, Mahidol University and Head of the research project ‘Policy Options and Guidelines to Reform and Strengthen the Roles of Village Health Volunteers and Bangkok Health Volunteers towards the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cheerawit Rattanapan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thunwadee Suksaroj, Asst. Prof. Dr. Orapin Laosee, Asst. Prof. Dr. Aroonsri Mongkolcharti, Asst. Prof. Somsak Wongsawass, and the AIHD research team attended the meeting to clarify the process of collecting research data for the above-mentioned research project supported by the Health Systems Research Institute (HSRI) via Zoom meeting. The research project was a collaborative effort of AIHD, the Department of Health Service Support, and the BMA Health Department.

This meeting was honored by representatives of researchers from Nakhon Ratchasima, Chanthaburi, Kanchanaburi, Chiang Mai, Roi Et, Pattani, and Bangkok. The aims were to clarify the research method and plan to prepare a forum to propose the guidelines to reform and strengthen the roles of Village Health Volunteers (VHVs) and Bangkok Health Volunteers towards the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs) that is appropriate with the demographic, social, economic, and political structure of the country.
