AIHD’s MPHM to promote Social Health Protection

The ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD), Mahidol University organized a meeting to discuss matters regarding its program that supports social health protection, the AIHD Master of Primary Health Care Management program (MPHM), held on 14 September 2020 at Ratchaphruek Rm. AIHD. The meeting was also done online via the Zoom Meeting app.
Health executives from different organizations present during the meeting were Asst. Prof. Dr. Phudit Tejativaddhana, M.D., Director of AIHD and Program Director of MPHM with Special Track on Social Health Protection; Prof. Dr. Supasit Pannarunothai, Head of the Centre for Health Equity Monitoring Foundation (CHEMF); Adjunct Prof. Thaworn Sakunphanit, M.D., Consultant of the Ministry of Public Health, Thailand; Samrit Srithamrongsawat, M.D., Ph.D., Department of Community Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University; Dr. Pritaporn Kingkaew, Pharmacist; Miss Saudamini Vishwanath Dabak; Ms. Kanchanok Sirison, Senior Researcher of Health Intervention and Technology Assessment Program (HITAP); Dr. Poontavika Naka, Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy, Chulalongkorn University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nilawan Upakdee, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Naresuan University; and Dr. Angsumalee Pholpark, Health Insurance System Research Office (HISRO).
AIHD executives who have also joined the meeting include Asst. Prof. Dr. Vijj Kasemsup, M.D., AIHD Deputy Director; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sakda Arj-ong Vallipakorn, M.D., AIHD Assistant Director for Research and Innovation. AIHD lecturers and staff of the Education and Academic Services Units have also come to attend the said meeting.
During the meeting, the health executives present have discussed the plans in developing the course syllabus for MPHM’s major in Social Health Protection for the 2nd semester of AY 2020. They came up with 4 elective subjects: 1) Strategic Purchasing for Universal Health Coverage, 2) Health Providers in Health Systems, 3) Health Financing for Social Health Protection, and 4) Health Economics. The course is specially intended for students under scholarship grant provided by the International Labour Organization (ILO).
