On 6-8 May 2024, ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University by Associate Professor Dr. Kitti Sranacharoenpong was invited to share his experiences at the workshop; First Consultation meeting on the development of ASEAN minimum standards and guidelines on nutrition preservice education for frontline health workers. He presented the topic entitled “Introduction to competency frameworks and teaching standards for health professional preservice education”. This workshop aims to develop minimum standards and guidelines on nutrition preservice education for frontline health workers across the lifecycle in the ASEAN region. The workforce capacity, the foundations of which are built during preservice education, is critical for scaling up the nutrition actions delivered through the health system that are vital to member states achieving targets in reducing the burden of malnutrition, including nutrition-related non-communicable diseases. This workshop is organized by Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO) in Luang Prabang, Lao PDR, May 6-8, 2024.
