Asst. Prof. Dr. Phudit Tejativaddhana, Director of the ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD), Mahidol University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somboon Sirisunhirun, Deputy Director for Administration, Asst. Prof. Dr. Vijj Kasemsup, M.D., Deputy Director, and Ms. Nuannoi Boonchusong, Secretary of AIHD, attended Mahidol University’s commemoration of the death of His Royal Highness Prince Mahidol of Songkla on Mahidol Day held 24 September 2020 at the Mahidol Learning Center, Mahidol University.
Mahidol Day is held on the 24th day of September each year in honor of Prince Mahidol, who is highly regarded as the “Father of modern Thai medicine”. Prince Mahidol died on the 24th of September 1929.
The Thai government has designated the date of Prince Mahidol’s death, 24 September, as Mahidol Day in Thailand, in commemoration of his extraordinary contributions to the development of medical education in Thailand and his selfless devotion to the well-being of the Thai people.
