On 13 June 2025, the ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University, had the honor of hosting a preparatory meeting with the Faculty of Medical Technology and the College of Sports Science and Technology. This internal collaboration within Mahidol University aimed to prepare for a future meeting to strengthen research and academic cooperation in support of the Healthy University initiative with the Osaka University Institute for Sports and Global Health (OuiSH), building on the existing AUN-HPN network collaboration.
Associate Professor Dr. Thanwadee Suksaroj, Director of the ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University, chaired the sub-meeting held via Zoom to discuss the development of the project proposal for the “Osaka-Mahidol Global Health Innovation Joint Research Centre.” The meeting was honored by the participation of Assistant Professor Dr. Chotirot Plubplung, Dean of the Faculty of Medical Technology; Assistant Professor Dr. Yuttana Udomporn, Dean of the College of Sports Science and Technology; along with executives and faculty members from all three units, including Associate Professor Dr. Wilasinee Jungprasertsuk, Dr. Thararath Khaokhiew, Assistant Professor Dr. Pranchaya Jamkachang (Associate Dean for Research, Academic Affairs, and International Relations), and Assistant Professor Dr. Areekul Amornsriwatanakul.
The objective of the meeting was to discuss the framework for establishing a Joint Research Centre focused on the development of global health research and innovation. Key areas included the prevention of non-communicable disease (NCD) risk factors, the promotion of activities under student and staff mobility programs, and the co-development of tools to assess and monitor the health and well-being status of students and staff at Mahidol University and Osaka University. This internal Mahidol University sub-meeting served as a preparatory step prior to the upcoming meeting with the research team from the Osaka University Institute for Sports and Global Health (OuiSH) in the following week.
