AIHD and Department of Health Service Support Co-Organize Workshop for Community Health Volunteer Trainer Development Program (Batch 2)

On June 24, 2025, the ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD), Mahidol University, in collaboration with the Department of Health Service Support, Ministry of Public Health, organized a hands-on workshop to enhance the capacity of provincial-level public health officers responsible for community health initiatives. The training followed the national standard curriculum for Community Health Volunteer (CHV) Trainer Development Program (Batch 2).
Associate Professor Dr. Thunwadee Suksaroj, Director of AIHD, delivered welcoming remarks at the opening ceremony, which was officially presided over by Dr. Adisorn Vattanasak, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Health Service Support. The event was attended by senior officials from the Department of Health Service Support, public health professionals from central and regional offices, and provincial community health officers. The workshop took place at Mida Grande Hotel Dhavaravati, Nakhon Pathom Province.
The CHV Trainer Development initiative is a result of academic collaboration between AIHD and the Department of Health Service Support. It aims to strengthen the capacity of health personnel working in villages and communities nationwide, equipping them to lead sustainable and community-driven health initiatives. The curriculum comprises ten key modules:
1. Policies and directions in primary health care development
2. Concepts and theories related to primary health care
3. Utilization of the CHV standard training curriculum
4. Ethics, morality, and professional code of conduct for trainers
5. Laws and regulations related to CHVs
6. Training design, planning, and evaluation
7. Use of digital databases and technology for trainers
8. Health communication and behavior change
9. Recreational activity facilitation techniques
10. Teamwork and collaboration skills
The training program emphasizes active learning, critical thinking, and practical application, preparing participants to manage CHV training at the local level and respond effectively to ongoing social, economic, and environmental changes.
