Research Presentation Meeting on the Development of Bio-Circular-Green Economy in the Upstream Supply Chain of the Rice Farming System in the Krasiao Irrigation Project Area, Suphan Buri Province

4 July 2025

On July 4, 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Thunwadee Suksaroj, Director of the ASEAN Institute for Health Development and Principal Investigator of the research project, along with Associate Professor Dr. Cheerawit Rattanapan, Deputy Director for Research and Academic Affairs, and Mr. Witchukorn Suriyawongpaisan, Research Practitioner, presented research findings on the project: “Development of Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy in the Upstream Supply Chain of the Rice Farming System in the Krasiao Irrigation and Maintenance Project Area, Suphan Buri Province”. The presentation was delivered to the Agricultural Research Development Agency (Public Organization) [ARDA] via Zoom Meeting, held at the Krasae Chanawong Meeting Room, ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University. During the meeting, the principal investigator presented key findings supporting the sustainability of rice cultivation in the Krasiao irrigation project area. The research highlighted the benefits of alternate wetting and drying (AWD) cultivation methods, which offer higher yields per rai and significantly reduce methane emissions compared to traditional rice farming. This innovative approach is considered particularly suitable for promoting adoption among new-generation farmers in Thailand. The expert panel from ARDA recommended further development of policy recommendations based on the research findings to enhance clarity and effectiveness, with the aim of proposing them to relevant government agencies for policy formulation and implementation.
