July 23, 2025, ASEAN Institute for Health Development hosted the collaborative meeting with representatives from the Faculty of Medical Technology, the College of Sport Science and Technology, Mahidol University and Osaka University Institute of Sports and Global Health, Japan. The meeting was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thunwadee Suksaroj, Director of ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cheerawit Rattanapan, Deputy Director for Research and Academic Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Piyapong Janmaimool, Deputy Director for Strategy and International Relations, instructors, and researchers participated in the meeting. From Osaka University Institute of Sports and Global Health, the delegation included Prof. Daisaku Nakatani Director of Division of Global Strategy Promotion, Asst. Prof. Dr. Rie Ogasawara, Osaka University Institute of Sports and Global Health (OuiSH). Additionally, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wilasinee Jeungprasopsuk, the representative from the Faculty of Medical Technology and Asst. Prof. Dr. Areekul Amornsriwatanakul the College of Sport Science and Technology, Mahidol University participated in the meeting. The meeting was held at ASEAN Institute for Health Development and via Zoom. The purposes were to develop a strategic plan for collaborative research development and to identify the areas of research focuses. According to the meeting, three research areas (e.g., smoking cessation, obesity prevention, and promotion of physical activities) are focused, and these studies will be conducted in university setting. Additionally, the representatives from OuiSH proposed a collaborative retrospective study to explore prevalence and risk factors of obesity among the university students and staff. Representatives from MU, including AIHD, agreed with the idea, and planned to develop the project in the future.
